We’ve planted our roots in Yorkshire and we believe in giving back to the place we call home.
Whether it’s raising valuable funds for our nominated charity of the year or pledging our support in the community from our Kindness Pot, we are passionate about lending a helping hand to local causes in the ways they need it most and bringing communities together.
OUR CHARITY OF THE YEAR
We are thrilled to reveal that following multiple nominations and a unanimous vote, our 2023 charity of the year is Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Yorkshire Air Ambulance is an independent charity that relies entirely on the generosity of the public. They provide a lifesaving rapid response service to 5 million people across the whole of Yorkshire and currently attend on average 4 incidents every single day.
Through a series of fundraising events, till collections and united team efforts, we are hoping to raise £19,000 this year, which will fund a full day’s service.
we’ve collected and donated toys, gifts & food to local charities
Team Tong and Team Tingley collected and donated trollies full of toys, Christmas gifts and essentials to the Salvation Army Holmwood, Bradford Central Foodbank and The Trussell Trust this Christmas.
From teddies to toiletries, we thank our incredible teams for sharing with others and giving gifts to those who really need it most this Christmas!
houseplants supporting local education
We’ve donated fourteen house plants to help a local school teach their children about caring for living things. Whitecote Primary School were especially keen to use house plants to help demonstrate how caring for yourself can help you thrive and what better way to teach this than to provide living plants to each class for the children to take care of.
The Kindness Pot
We know that giving back to causes is something very close to our team’s hearts. And we are lucky to have the biggest hearts, most helpful hands and thoughtful minds… that’s why it’s so important to us that we give our whole team the opportunity to give back to causes they care deeply about!
The Kindness Pot donates time, money or products to meaningful causes and each member of our team can submit a kindness request to support a charity or community initiative that means a lot to them.

The climate emergency in Yorkshire and globally is more prevalent than ever and one way we can all enjoy helping make a change for the better is in our gardens. We actively support the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and we promote nature-based solutions that help tackle the climate crisis by protecting and restoring the nature that we all depend on.
At the heart of Tong Garden Centre is our family. We are wildly passionate about our workplace culture and providing a GREAT place to work for our Tong family.
