Pretty Primroses
One of the joys at this time of the year is the emergence of primroses. Enjoy the sweet, simple freshness of their charming, dainty blooms which really celebrate the coming of spring.
We’re proud to say our primroses are locally grown just outside Huddersfield and come in a range of vivid colours – perfect for brightening up your beds, borders and baskets!
Joe, our plant supervisor at Tong, loves using primroses when planting up his spring containers and baskets. “They’re so versatile and the colours and patterns of the flowers are magnificent. After a long winter, I always plant up my containers with an array of primroses – it tells me that spring is finally here and the gardening year has begun!”
Here are three of Joe’s favourite varieties for this year!
Purple Flame
I love this variety of primrose thanks to it’s large showy violet purple flowers with a bright white and striking yellow center. Ideal for your pots and containers, these hardy, early blooming plants are bound to impress and add that much needed splash of colour to your garden!
SCirocco
This has to be the most unique Primrose out there! A favourite of many, the Scirocco has stunning mauve and purple frilly flowers with a delicate white tip and gorgeous yellow core that will truly lift your borders and patio pots.
Sweet 16
This large flowered Primrose brings a bright splash of spring colour to your beds and containers, and makes a lovely edging to pathways too. They produce an abundance of rosy pink petals that contrast beautifully with their deep green foliage. They always make an appearance in my garden!
