The rainbow month is well underway AT YORKSHIRE GARDEN CENTRES

Throughout June we’re promoting self-affirmation and equality among the LGBTQ+ community…

Supporting causes close to our team’s hearts and demonstrating our ‘Respectful’ value is very much part of our culture at Yorkshire Garden Centres so we’re celebrating the diversity in our team with our very own Pride month.

We’re flying the rainbow flag at the entrance to our centres and transforming our team spaces in colourful zones where we’re selling Pride pin badges to raise money for our LGBTQ+ charity. The charity was nominated for our charity of the year by one of our team members and, whilst it was not chosen, we love the brilliant work they do and wanted to support their cause.

Our pride month also includes educating and informing our 507 strong workforce across our four centres. We’re sharing personal people stories told by our team in the LGBTQ+ community as well as the history of Pride and a calendar of Pride events across Yorkshire.

Neil Barwise-Carr, head of people and culture for the group says “We are an inclusive business passionate about making YGC a place where all LGBTQ+ people feel they belong. Our Pride month is an opportunity to educate, support and celebrate our diverse community.”

This celebratory month concludes with a colourful Pride Day on 28Th June when our team will be wearing their brightest clothes to mark the 53rd anniversary of the first Pride march.
