We Love Spirit Of Yorkshire

Spirit of Yorkshire distillery is Yorkshire’s first single malt whisky distillery and is one of only a handful of distilleries that grow their own barley for whisky production. Each of their single malt whiskies has been named after their local beach, Filey bay, which is visible from their distillery window on the coast of Yorkshire.

Mentored by renowned whisky expert Dr Jim Swan, the team at Spirit of Yorkshire are committed to combining tradition with new thinking to create something out of the ordinary, resulting in their unique, complex whisky finishes. 

Spirit of Yorkshire first began distilling in 2016 and now house thousands of various cask types – including sherry butts and bourbon casks, all of which help create the subtle, complex flavours of their unique spirit. They carefully select the perfect variety of barley to grow on their local family farm, mill, mash and ferment this with chalk filtered water from deep beneath the Yorkshire Wolds, then hand bottle the finished product in Hunmanby. This Yorkshire Heartisan is passionate about the distilling journey – which makes it easy to see why we love them!

Hearty’s is proud to support Yorkshire’s first single malt whisky distillery, Spirit of Yorkshire and their award winning Filey Bay whiskies, eight of which received accolades from the 2022 International Wines and Spirits Competition (IWSC). With complex flavourings of the ‘Moscatel Finish’, offering notes of wood spices and layers of fruit, to the ‘STR Finish’ with tones of summer berries and vanilla ice cream, we’re sure there’s a Filey Bay whisky to suit any taste.
