SIX JOBS FOR SPRING
Spring is officially here! The lighter nights and warmer days are on their way so it’s time to head outdoors and give your garden the TLC it needs, then you’ll reap the rewards all year long!
1. CLEAN PATHS AND PATIOS
Remove moss and green algae that has built up on your paths and patios over winter with a product designed for outdoor use and for use around plants and lawns. A product such as Algon is perfect for the job.
2. NOURISH YOUR SOIL
A healthy garden starts with healthy soil! Adding compost to garden beds and borders is the easiest way to add much-needed nutrients back into soil, ready for planting.
3. FEED YOUR PLANTS
For brilliant blooms and bumper crops, give plants the best start by adding a feed such as Fish, Blood & Bone when you plant them.
4. LOVE YOUR LAWN
When April arrives, it’s time to give your lawn some love. We recommend you scarify and aerate before applying a spring treatment, and consider overseeding your lawn to rejuvenate and thicken grass.
5. SUPPRESS THE WEEDS
It’s worth using a mulch such as decorative bark or landscape fabric to help suppress weeds, preventing them from taking hold once everything starts to grow.
6. PRUNE BACK
Prune certain hardy evergreen plants, roses and shrubs such as hydrangeas and spirea. Choose anvil secateurs to quickly cut through stems of dead wood and bypass secateurs for young or soft wood from living plant tissue.
