Shante joins our People and Culture team as an apprentice, partnered with Leeds City College

We are excited to continue to invest in the learning and development of our team at Tong Garden Centre. Shante attends remote lectures, fortnightly, where she is studying a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Human Resources, whilst working full time in our People and Culture team.

“Since joining the team my experience and knowledge just keep growing. The apprenticeship allows me to shape my career and expand my knowledge in a fun environment, within a team that support me. Having previously worked in recruitment, I love seeing the employer side of thing. I love attracting and hiring talented people to join our Team”.

Becki says: It is great to have Shante as part of our People and Culture team here at Tong Garden Centre. We are currently in a period of growth with our second site due to open in a few months, so it is a fantastic time for Shante to learn and get stuck in on our ever-growing journey. Her apprenticeship will no doubt enhance her skills to start her career in the HR industry, and we are looking forward to supporting her along the way.

“I love that I am gaining hands on and practical experience in the People & Culture role. It gives me understanding about the role, the relationships created in a HR role, learning how to liaise with senior leadership on projects which contribute towards the business success. I am grateful for this opportunity; I appreciate the opportunity I have been given and Tong Garden Centre for supporting my career in Human Resources.”

We are proud to be investing in the growth of our people, Shante is our second apprentice, alongside Alfie Taylor, our Plants Apprentice, who is studying towards a Level 2 Horticulture and Landscape qualification at Shipley College.
